It's won a swag of awards and is based on a series of kid's books written by Tim Winton.  But Channel 9 are screening it at midday on Saturdays and we're just not sure this is prime TV viewing time for your average Aussie kid. Andrew talks with young viewers, Maddison Ballard and Benson Anthony about this terrific Aussie drama.

Can Survivors endure Nine's indifference?

Call us old fashioned, but here at The Playlist, we liked it when BBC dramas went straight to the ABC. Nowadays they're turning up all over the place, with commercial networks seemingly unsure how to handle these carefully crafted programs, produced for the rhythms of commercial free transmission.

Case in point, Survivors - a re-make of the 1970's, post apocalyptic drama of the same name. In Australia, series one aired earlier this year on Channel 9, where it was hacked down, shoehorned into their schedule and left to fend for itself late at night and without promotion. Thankfully UKTV have picked it up and will give fans a chance to watch the series unfold as it was intended. But Nine have still got series two gathering dust on the shelf, and what they plan to do with it is anyone's bet.

Andrew talks with Michael Peschardt (BBC World) and Richard Clune (The Sunday Telegraph) about this frustrating state of affairs
