Call us old fashioned, but here at The Playlist, we liked it when BBC dramas went straight to the ABC. Nowadays they're turning up all over the place, with commercial networks seemingly unsure how to handle these carefully crafted programs, produced for the rhythms of commercial free transmission.
Case in point, Survivors - a re-make of the 1970's, post apocalyptic drama of the same name. In Australia, series one aired earlier this year on Channel 9, where it was hacked down, shoehorned into their schedule and left to fend for itself late at night and without promotion. Thankfully UKTV have picked it up and will give fans a chance to watch the series unfold as it was intended. But Nine have still got series two gathering dust on the shelf, and what they plan to do with it is anyone's bet.
