In honour of SBS celebrating 30 years of broadcast, it seemed like a good time to check in and see how things are going for Australia's most cosmopolitan of channels.
Once upon a time, SBS was the channel "bringing the world back home" - providing a diverse array of foreign language programming for homesick new arrivals and curious locals.
However - in today's more complicated media landscape - has our Special Broadcasting Service kept pace with multi-cultured Australia, or in chasing market share, has it actually lost its way? Yes it's still got boobs, balls and bicycles and a Magic Pudding-esque supply of Hitler docos, but mainstream hits such as Big Love and Mad Men leave us scratching our heads.
As SBS celebrates its 30th year on air, Andrew asks Paula McGrath (Diamond Road Management) and Michael Bodey (The Australian) if this multicultural minx is still speaking our language.
