Aussie TV's Broadcast Wars
The death of Kerry Packer in 2006 unleashed an outpouring of nostalgia for a man few in the biz would have regarded as a friend. It also prompted predictions of the end of Australian network television, imagining perhaps it would just curl up and die from the grief. Sure, it was a shake up but in many ways Packer's death was irrelevant to a beast that had already evolved into something way beyond him.
It was this phenomenon that prompted media writer Michael Bodey to write Broadcast Wars and examine the years between 2003 and 2011 - an era of significant drama in the history of Australia's commercial TV networks.
Andrew caught up with Michael to find out more about this pivotal period in Australia's Broadcast Wars.
