TV promos: the good, the bad and the unwatchable
TV stations have entire departments dedicated to the production of "promos" - short, promotional ads designed to hook viewers in to watch that channel's programs. At their best, they have the power to seduce an audience and create a sense of buzz around a program. Sadly however, what is more often the case, promos blather on with a formulaic wall of voice over and graphics, failing to communicate anything to the potential audience, and perhaps even turning viewers off.
So which promos did we like this year, and which ones got our goat? Andrew talks with The Gruen Transfer's Jane Caro and voice over artist and actor, Troy Planet
