Trash TV: you know you love it

Anna-Nicole, Paris, Kim, Kourtney, Khloe et al were virtual unknowns before becoming reality TV celebs. And it seems there's no limit to the resource that is the Z list, with networks continuing to plunder its depths for even more outrageous bobbleheads.

But with the Kardashians now role models for aspiring young business women, President Obama riffing on Jersey Shore's Snookie and author Bret Easton Ellis outing himself as a Kardashimaniac it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate the fact from the fiction.

Andrew talks with trash addicts, The Sun Herald's Kate Waterhouse and Jo Casamento about their not so secret predilection for this most ubiquitous genre.

Guess who's a fan of the Kardashians?

Controversial author Bret Easton Ellis, that's who. We couldn't wait to hear his thoughts on Dexter, but it seems Mr Easton Ellis prefers his TV drama to have a little less ... meat. So does the man behind such controversial tomes as American Psycho, Less Than Zero and now Imperial Bedrooms, consider himself responsible for TV's plethora of gory crime dramas?
