Variety then and now

Has the Variety show died or just changed its rhythm? Once upon a time any actor/ dancer/ comedian worth their salt had a variety show: Bob Hope, Julie Andrews, Sonny and Cher, Dolly Parton, Dean Martin ... even The Muppets had one.

Nowadays it's a struggle to name one so what's happened? Does a show like The Ellen Degeneres Show qualify? Or has variety morphed with reality and re-birthed via the Dancing With The Stars type programs?

Joining Andrew to talk about the current state of this once glorious genre are former Variety vixens of the Australian small screen, Lorrae Desmond and Toni Lamond.
